Department of Nursing

 

The Department of Nursing provides nursing education to meet community needs. The nursing program is committed to providing high quality nursing education to develop nurses who use critical thinking to solve problems; who appreciate diversity; who demonstrate high standards of professional practice; and who are caring, informed, accountable, creative and articulate decision-makers.

The Department of Nursing offers courses that lead to the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN program) and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN program). Those individuals who already hold the LPN license are encouraged to apply to the accelerated LPN to ASN transition program.

Accreditation

Louisiana State University at Alexandria is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The Department of Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), and approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN).

Applications for Clinical Nursing

 

  • Available for Pre-Nursing and LPN to ASN Students starting January 22, 2013 from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
  • You must present your student ID or driver’s license to verify identification.
  • Completed applications and fees are due on February 1, 2013 to the Department of Nursing.                      (Late applications will not be accepted.)
  • Please refer to the LSUA Catalog or the Nursing Student Handbook for Admission Criteria.
